Hello. Up for your consideration this week is a scarce large honey olive Wyoming nephrite jade desert ventifact, or semi "wind slick," of small boulder size with some quintessential orangish red oxidation or "rind" between the exposed windows. There are some remnants of a quartz matrix in places on the stone. Sculpted by wind blown sand and the elements over the millennia. The stone displays good surface translucency throughout the exposed nephrite windows. Lightly oiled with mineral oil to display coloration. A superb jade specimen for your collection. Sold as a specimen grade example, I make no illusions or guarantees about potential carvability or internal character of the stone.
The jade weighs 1301 grams or 2 lbs & 13.9 ounces.
The “up to,” or maximum dimensions of the specimen are 8 x 4.25 x 1.5 inches.
I have been hunting for and collecting jade specimens for a long time – Seeking that one perfect stone that always seems to be just out of reach. As my collection has grown to epic proportions I will slowly start releasing some rare jades.
A note on the images: the photographs were taken indoors under incandescent studio lighting with a calibrated white balance. I have done my best to confirm that the colors of the stone in the images are accurate when compared to the real stone, but the buyer should be aware that there are inherent differences in color renderings on computer displays, tablets, smartphones, etc.
