    Description

    Vintage Set of 4 Chinese Landscapes River Scenes Inside Painted Glass Snuff Bottles.  They measure 3.5" high by 1 3/4" wide and have all the original tops (no paddles)   They were bought in China many years ago by a neighbor who was a collector but that is all I know about them.
    Great condition with the exception of one bottle has a minute nick of the bottom and one at the top, barely noticeable.
    Snuff bottles were mainlyused during the Qing dynasty — an era when inner painting was invented. In thisart form, which is still practiced today in China, the artists use speciallydesigned pens to draw on the insides of bottles. A snuff bottle is a very smallbottle that contains powdered tobacco and other ancient Chinese ingredients. Itis believed that depending on the contents of the bottle, sniffing the tobaccocan alleviate many common illnesses such as headaches or colds
