Most of Pittsburgh's PCCs, including 1717, were suddenly retired in October 1988 following a disastrous runaway accident in the Mt. Washington Tunnel, but four 1700s, which had been rewired, and all 12 4000s lasted into the 1990s. The last Pittsburgh PCCs operated in 1999. High-Dynamic-Range (HDR) "Painterly" image.
