Here is a superb large cabinet sized classic locality English fluorite piece that came out of the Elbolton Mine, Elbolton Hill, Thorpe, Grassington, Wharfdale, North Pennines, North Yorkshire, England, UK, a very old classic English locality that was mined for lead between 1865 and 1900.  This was a very small operation that produced limited ore over its 35 year history.
Specimens from this locality are quite unusual and uncommon on the market today, especially in this large a size.  But if you have ever seen a fluorite specimen from this mine you will likely never forget it.  They have this unusual combination of a very dark blue-violet exterior that grew in a very thin layer on top of white to colorless interiors.  Very cool and I have never seen fluorite specimens like them from any other locality on the planet.
This specimen is composed of an intergrown grouping of these color zoned fluorite with the exterior of the crystals a deep blue to violet in color and the center transparent to translucent and colorless to white, and the crystal edges darker blue in color than any other area of the fluorite crystals, growing on a small amount of what appears to be a limestone matrix and earlier growths of colorless and smaller fluorite crystals.
The largest crystal measures 2.9 cm along an edge and 3.7 cm diagonally across the top of the crystal.
This old time classic piece measures 11.7 x 9.3 x 5.0 cm in size (about 4.5 x 3.5 x 2.0 inches) weighs 1 pound and 3.2 ounces, and it comes professionally labeled
and ready for immediate display
.   Unique and quite aesthetic, good ones of these are pretty difficult to find today, especially anything in this large cabinet size range!!!!  This is the best one of these we have ever had available from this locality and its been hiding in our personal collection for a few years now and needs to be shared.  Its a killer specimen from this highly regarded old English mine, and worth a good long look!
