    Description

Antique Mexican Copper Mask, size 20" long x 12" wide.
A copper mask of a man with a big black beard. The tradition of making masks from copper comes from La Perota, Guerrero which used to be a major silver and copper mining area. The artist used a repousse technique hammering the sheet of copper from the back to create the designs. They were normally used in a rain-petitioning dance. The mask has a nicely painted finish and is in very good condition.
